The EGAD Shuffle: What’s Actually Happening in Melbourne’s Art District (2025-2026)

Updated: 1 day ago

If you’ve driven down Highland Ave lately, you know the Eau Gallie Art District is looking a little different these days. It feels like every time we turn around, there’s a new "Coming Soon" sign or a "Space for Lease" notice.

As someone who lives and breathes the Space Coast, I wanted to break down the real tea on what’s opening, what’s closing, and what is still a total mystery.

The 2025 Update: The Highs and Lows

First, the good news: Dolly’s is officially on the block. If you haven't been yet, it’s a killer wine bar that’s already trending for all the right reasons. It’s exactly the kind of spot EGAD needed for a Friday night.

But we can’t talk about 2025 without mentioning the massive hole left by Grumpy's Biscuits and Thrive Local. Losing them was a gut punch for the local scene. Thrive wasn't just a shop; they were the biggest cheerleaders for Brevard County small businesses. Watching that chapter close was tough for all of us who shop local.

💬 Talk to me: Who are we supporting now that Thrive is gone? Tag your favorite local maker in the comments so we can keep the "shop small" energy alive.

Looking Toward 2026: Whiskey and... Silence?

The 2026 rumor mill is already spinning. We’ve confirmed that The Office—the whiskey and cigar lounge we all love over in Cocoa Beach—is moving into the mainland for their second location. Having that kind of high-end lounge in EGAD is going to be a game-changer for the nightlife here.

Then there’s the Wicked Lobstah situation. We were hyped for the food truck to finally grab a storefront, but honestly? It’s been total crickets. No construction, no updates, nothing. We’re all crossing our fingers they haven't scrapped the plan, but for now, we’re playing the waiting game.
