Standing Together: How to Support The Tiny Turtle Family After Cocoa Beach Fire

A major structural fire heavily damaged The Tiny Turtle restaurant in downtown Cocoa Beach on Minutemen Causeway. While the structural damage to the concrete building, roof, and outdoor tiki huts is significant, the most important news is that everyone evacuated safely with no injuries reported.

However, for the owners husband and wife—Kelly Lieneke and Chef Moises Correa—this loss is profoundly personal.

They do not just run a business here; they live on-site above the restaurant. The Tiny Turtle is their actual home, their livelihood, and their entire life, heart, and soul.

The Space Coast community is already surrounding the family with incredible support, but the road to recovery and rebuilding their home and business will be long. As a cornerstone of the Cocoa Beach community, they need our tangible help to get back on their feet.

The Heart & Soul of Cocoa Beach

If you have ever eaten in downtown Cocoa Beach, you know that The Tiny Turtle is a true "mom-and-pop" landmark. Chef Moises Correa and Kelly built this dream from scratch over a decade ago.

Together, they created a dedicated culinary hub serving up authentic "Puerto Rícan Caribbean Comfort Food with a Twist." Built on a foundation of fresh, healthy, conscious ingredients, they brought distinct island flavors, a relaxed beach vibe, and unparalleled warmth to Brevard County. Because they lived upstairs, they were always there—making the dining room an extension of their own living room for locals and visitors alike.

What makes this sudden loss hit the Space Coast so hard is how much Kelly and Moises pour right back into our neighborhood. Their entire business model is built around community empowerment and local stewardship, actively backing major local initiatives. They don't just run a business on the Space Coast—they actively preserve the unique beach culture that makes Cocoa Beach home for all of us.
