There’s a rooftop bar at the Melbourne airport, right on top of the Hyatt—and somehow, we had never been. Runway Rooftop Bar & Grill turned out to be one of the most unique sunset spots we’ve found on the Space Coast. You can sit with a drink and watch small planes take off as the sun goes down. That’s a pretty different backdrop from our usual night out.

Runway Rooftop Bar & Grill is atop Hyatt Place Melbourne Airport at 747 Air Terminal Parkway, Melbourne, FL 32901. It’s a rooftop restaurant and bar in Brevard County, on Florida’s Space Coast, overlooking the Melbourne airport runways. An airport hotel might not be where you’d first look for a local night out. That unexpected location is part of what made finding this spot so fun.
Sunset, Airplanes & a Different Kind of Rooftop View
The sunset and airplane views were what caught us off guard on our first visit.
There’s something fun about sitting with a cocktail while a small plane takes off in front of you. It gives you a reason to look up, pause the conversation for a second and take in where you are.
For us, that’s what makes Runway feel like a hidden gem on the Space Coast. We hadn’t made it here before, and the setting immediately gave us a reason to remember it.
Our suggestion: arrive before sunset so you have time to settle in. Check the sunset time for your visit rather than assuming it will line up with happy hour.
