Comfort Food: Pecan & Wheat Squares


Pecan & Wheat Squares Ingredients


  • 2 cups all purpose flour, extra for dusting

  • 16 ground pecans, fine or 1 ounce of pecan meal

  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt

  • 2 tablespoons butter, grated

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • 3/4 cup of milk

  • 1 egg white


Directions For Pecan & Wheat Squares


  1. Heat oven to 325. Pulse flour, pecan meal and salt. Add butter, pulse. With machine running, slowly add honey and milk. Process until dough comes together

  2. Transfer dough to floured surface and divide into 4 equal parts. Roll out a 9 1/2 x 10 1/2 inch sheet about 1/8 inch thick. Put on un-greased baking sheet and cut into 1 1/2 inch squares. Pierce each square a few times with a fork

  3. Brush squares with egg white, sprinkle with salt and bake for 20 minutes until crackers are stiff. Using spatula turn over and bake 10-12 minutes. Crackers should be brown and firm. Place on rack to cool
